Parties Splitting Lead In Early Voting Totals

More than 1.4 million Floridians have voted by mail and more than half a million have already gone to early voting sites, according to the latest statistics by Secretary of State Ken Detzner.

Republicans continue to outperform Democrats in vote-by-mail ballots returned, 603,000 to 564,000, according to state figures.

But more Democrats than Republicans have gone to early voting sites, 240,000 to 216,000 since it began in most Florida counties on Monday.

According to the Pew Research Center, more than 46 million Americans, or 43 percent, voted early in 2012. Election Day is Nov. 8.
