A Panhandle lawmaker is asking the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to conduct a public workshop after what he says are increased bear encounters in Santa Rosa County.
Republican Representative Doug Broxson of Midway has asked commission staff members to suggest ways to avoid attracting bears.
His request comes as the commission considers another bear hunt in Florida, and animal rights activists protest across the state. The meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. on June 28th at the First Baptist Church of Navarre.
