The Florida A&M Board of Trustees is at a crossroads when it comes to university leadership. The Board is considering whether to retain current university president Elmira Mangum.
Since Mangum took the helm in 2014, there has been friction with the Board of Trustees, and the board is fast approaching a June 30 deadline for renewing her contract.
The members are expected to discuss the issue Friday.
Mangum survived an ouster attempt last year that prompted Former board chair Rufus Montgomery to resign his post. But relations have improved little. Just ahead of June’s board meetings, another former member, Reverend R.B. Holmes, issued an open letter urging the trustees not to renew Mangum’s contract.
