Most State Parks Reopen As Colin Fades

Most of Florida’s state parks reopened Tuesday following Tropical Storm Colin.

The Department of Environmental Protection says most of Florida’s 174 state parks reopened Tuesday in Colin’s soggy wake.

However, five will remain closed until further notice, according to an official announcement. Those parks are,

Anclote Key Preserve State Park in Pasco County; Ellie Shiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park in Citrus County; Hillsborough River State Park, Thonotosassa; Skyway Fishing Pier State Park in Tampa Bay and Ybor City Museum State Park in Ybor City.

A Miami native, former WFSU reporter Jim Ash is an award-winning journalist with more than 20 years of experience, most of it in print. He has been a member of the Florida Capital Press Corps since 1992.
