The 'Rubio Factor' Doesn't Faze Beruff

A leading contender in the five-way Republican race for U.-S. Senate says he’s not worried about the growing call for incumbent Marco Rubio to enter the fray.

At least one other Republican contender is promising to step aside if Rubio changes his mind, but Bradenton homebuilder Carlos Beruff says he’s in the race to stay.

“I don’t talk about what other people’s decisions are. I made my decision and I’ve committed to being in the race regardless of how many people join the party between now and August 30th.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and others are pressuring Rubio, but the failed presidential candidate says he’s staying out of the race. Meanwhile, Beruff is touting an internal poll that shows him beating his closest competitor, Congressman David Jolly, 17 percent to 16 percent.

Rubio has until the 24th to change his mind.
