Enterprise Florida Board members heard a report Wednesday from former Department of Children and Families Secretary David Wilkins. Gov. Rick Scott asked Wilkins to help identify savings in the job recruiting agency’s budget and Wilkins says he’s done just that.
“So I believe there is a $6 million opportunity that we can cut costs that we can then take advantage of that money and use it other place. I think we can then redesign the organization around business development and international focus like I talked about,” Wilkins says.
One way Wilkins says the agency can cut costs is by requiring its employees to follow the same rules for travel and expense reimbursement that state workers follow. Scott says he’d like to see that change adopted right away.
