Orlando could become the latest Florida city to decriminalize up to 20 grams of marijuana possession. The move follows similar policies approved in South Florida and Tampa. Just two weeks ago though, a proposal to do the same in Leon County failed. The failure of a plan in Leon County to decriminalize marijuana possession up to 20 grams, failed. But the statewide momentum to do so, continues. While marijuana continues to be illegal under federal and state laws, local officials and law enforcement are simply electing not to enforce such mandates.

The moves come as Florida voters consider a constitutional amendment for medical marijuana in the state. Lynn Hatter spoke with WMFE’s Renata Sago on the latest in the growing push for marijuana in Florida.
