A Florida Senator is hailing Congress’ passage of a $1.1 trillion budget bill.
In a video message, U.S. Democratic Senator Bill Nelson says the congressional budget deal includes a number of major wins for Florida—some that he can appreciate as a former astronaut.
“It gives NASA's overall budget a much-needed boost. That’s especially good news for Florida’s space coast. It fully funds NASA's commercial crew program that will enable us to once again launch Americans on American rockets in less than two years, and that’s instead of having to rely on the Russians for rides to go to and from the space station.”
He also liked the $7.5 million for further citrus greening disease research, $195 million to help restore the Everglades, as well as a sales tax break.
