Local business leaders are kicking off a month-long celebration of economic development in the Tallahassee area.

For the third year running, Tallahassee will be celebrating entrepreneurship in November—what organizers are calling E-Month.  Tallahassee City Commissioner Curtis Richardson says local economic development means the city is turning over a new leaf.

“We are no longer just a government town, we’re looking to expand our private sector base,” Richardson says, “and through the activities that you’ll hear about and participate in through E-Month will lead us in the direction of certainly expanding out private sector base here in Tallahassee.

Organizers will be hosting a Google business town hall and a talk with Facebook executive Randi Zuckerberg.

Nick Evans came to Tallahassee to pursue a masters in communications at Florida State University. He graduated in 2014, but not before picking up an internship at WFSU. While he worked on his degree Nick moved from intern, to part-timer, to full-time reporter. Before moving to Tallahassee, Nick lived in and around the San Francisco Bay Area for 15 years. He listens to far too many podcasts and is a die-hard 49ers football fan. When Nick’s not at work he likes to cook, play music and read.
