DHSMV Head Rhodes Talks Top Legislative Issues On Her Radar

Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles' website

The head of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles outlined some of her priorities, ahead of the 2016 legislative session.

Terry Rhodes is the Executive Director of the agency that oversees areas from the Florida Highway Patrol to the DMV. She says this year, she’s got three top issues on her radar.

“The first issue is dealing with making the number of days required to obtain a driver’s license and to change an address consistent and uniform,” said Rhodes, speaking during Tuesday's Cabinet meeting. “The second issue is to add the Road Rangers to the Move Over Law. And, the third issue is a joint partnership with the Department of Juvenile Justice to provide ID cards to juveniles, extending that program at no cost.”

Rhodes made her comments to the Florida Cabinet, which voted Tuesday to approve her legislative priorities. Governor Rick Scott says he abstained from the vote because Florida law states the Governor can only review legislation upon its passage by the Florida Legislature.
