Gov. Scott Declares State Of Emergency

NOAA

Governor Rick Scott is declaring a state of emergency as Tropical Storm Erika churns in the Caribbean.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami predicts Erika could hit South Florida early Monday morning and travel up the center of the state.

The order gives Division of Emergency Management Director Brian Koons wide powers and puts the National Guard on alert.

Scott is also authorizing the state Department of Transportation to lift all tolls ahead of any possible evacuation.
