Millions got their first taste of the Sunshine State as young recruits in the early 1940s. After World War II, they came back to pursue the American dream. On Monday, Secretary of State Ken Detzner launched “Victory

Florida,” a series of commemorations thanking World War II veterans for their sacrifices.

“Two point five million military personnel trained in Florida in aviation, infantry, amphibious and Women’s Army Corps.”

“Victory Florida,” is targeted at the estimated 100 thousand World War II vets in Florida and is tied to the August 15th, the 70th anniversary of the end of the war.
