Bill To Criminalize Unauthorized Posting Of Explicit Images

MGN Online

Revenge porn is the practice of publicly posting explicit photos of another person online – often with identifying information such as that person’s name or address. And Representative Tom Goodson (R-Titusville) wants to criminalize it.

“Facial recognition, personal identification, tagging that. You do not do that for love, kindness, or even to tell people your girlfriend is great. You do that out of harassment, to harm to embarrass. You effect their job for life,” Goodson says.

Once the images are online there’s not a lot a person can do to get them taken down. But Goodson has filed a bill that would make posting an identifiable and sexually explicit image with the intent to harass, a criminal offense.
