Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is defending herself and her office after a New York Times article raised questions about her relationship with a lobbyist and free travel and gifts she received as a member of the Republican Attorneys General Association.

"No person, no corporation, no individual will ever compromise what we do in our office, regarding unfair and deceptive trade practices, nor how we protect the consumers of the state of Florida," Bondi said Monday after a meeting of the Florida cabinet. "We will continue to protect consumers of the state of Florida and that’s not going to change.”

The October Times report found increased attempts by lobbyists to sway both Republican and Democratic Attorneys General in 20 states. It cited Bondi’s relationship with a lawyer representing corporations her office was investigating. Bondi defeated former Florida Department of Children and Families Secretary George Sheldon to win reelection earlier this month.
