American singer and political activist Harry Belafonte visited the state capitol today to join in the ongoing protest against the state’s Stand Your Ground Law.
When asked by a reporter what could be done to convince a mostly-Republican legislature to change the law, Belafonte suggested the discussion is at the heart of how state government will function in the coming months.
“If there’s a continued resistance to what we’re doing, we’ll just mount our campaign against that resistance. That resistance could lead to places that become less governable," he said.
Belafonte demurred, saying he’s pleased seeing so many young people being socially active.
