Growing Agritourism Sprouts Concern

A bill that would block local governments from imposing regulations on agritourism businesses is making its way through the legislature. But opponents worry without rules, things could get out of hand.

Agritourism is a growing business in Florida and Republican Representative Holly Raschein  wants to ensure it stays that way. She’s the sponsor of a bill that would block local governments from imposing regulations on the industry. Meanwhile, groups the like Florida League of Cities or Association of Counties say they need to be able to create some rules to stop agritourism from turning into a giant festival like Woodstock. The measure passed out of the committee. A similar measure is also moving forward in the Senate.
