Tallahassee, FL – Dr. Julian White, Director of Bands and chairman of the university's Department of Music, has been fired. White's termination is the first stemming from a hazing-related death of one of the university marching band's drum majors.

In a letter addressed to White, University President James Ammons says the firing is based upon White's "alleged misconduct and/or incompetence involving confirmed reports and allegations of hazing within the Department of Music and the Marching 100'".

Dr. White has been placed on Administrative Leave with Pay until his official termination date, which is December 22.
