Tallahassee, FL – Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater released Monday his agenda for the January Legislative Session. James Call reports, the former Senate President says the CFO should have the authority to review and reject state contracts.
In a written statement addressing several items, the CFO said strict contracting standards are simply a reflection of how serious lawmakers take the trust voters have given them. He said he also intends to lobby lawmakers to raise standards for state employees who manage contracts and to more clearly define what a contractor must provide.
Atwater will also continue to push for change in the no-fault auto insurance law. He says he will encourage legislative leaders to support meaningful reforms for personal injury protection so that Floridians will get the insurance rate relief they deserve.
The 2012 Legislative Session will begin January 10th.
