Tallahassee, FL – It's National Health Center Week in Florida. As Sascha Cordner reports, Community health centers around the state are recognizing the week to show how important they are in Florida.
Florida Association of Community Health Centers President and CEO Andrew Behrman says throughout the week, community health centers across the state will showcase the work that they do in their respective communities.
"Community health centers are in local communities to help people. They are safety net providers. They provide services to Medicaid patients and to the uninsured and Medicare and even commercial insurance. They provide a comprehensive quality-driven medical home model for primary care and dental care."
Behrman says some of the ways health centers will commemorate the week include open house events, health care fairs, and educational sessions. Governor Rick Scott issued a proclamation, recognizing the week and urging residents to appreciate their important contributions.
