Tallahassee, FL – Florida Governor Rick Scott has named a new Chief of staff. Regan McCarthy reports the results are not too surprising.
Senate President Mike Haridopolos' aide Steve MacNamara will fill Governor Scott's vacated chief of staff position. MacNamara's name has been one often repeated as a front runner for the spot. Ron Sachs a former staffer in governor Lawton Chiles' administration says MacNamara has the right qualifications for the job.
"This is a guy who's got all the chops, all the smarts, the strengths and strategic thinking that would benefit a governor in a chief of staff."
Scott says he selected MacNamara for his "experience and political skill."
MacNamara, a distinguished professor at Florida State University, has previously served as chief of staff to the speaker of the House as well as secretary of the department of business and professional regulation. Senate Budget Director Craig Meyer will fill the spot MacNamara leaves as Haridopolos' new chief of staff.
