Tallahasee, FL – Governor Rick Scott held a phone conference to debrief reporters about his recent trip to Canada. Scott billed the trip as a trade mission. Lynn Hatter reports the governor says he talked with more than 140 companies and is hopeful those talks will lead to more jobs for the state.
Scott says he talked up Florida's proximity to Central and South America, the lack of a personal income tax and his plan of eventually phasing out the corporate income tax to prospective businesses. Scott also talked about two Canadian-based companies already coming to the state.
"One company called aircraft Armorture will begin repairing aircrafts in Opa Locka and they're going to create 100 skilled jobs in less than three years. And another one, UCC Steelwork Connections has opened its U.S headquarters and distribution center in Tampa."
Scott says he's looking forward to more companies coming to the state as a result of the Canada trip.
