The Villages – Florida Governor Rick Scott signed off on a roughly 69-million dollar budget after vetoing more than 600-million dollars worth of items. Lynn Hatter reports the Governor took the budget signing to The Villages, where he surrounded himself with supporters.

Governor Rick Scott may be unpopular with most Floridians according to recent polls but in The Villages, he's got strong support. Especially from Tri County Tea Party President Pam Dahl, and board member Smokey Wess.

Reporter: "What do you think about the governor's job performance?

"I like his performance.I do too. I think everybody does. I like everything he's doing so far."

Scott vetoed 615-million dollars worth of projects and said that money should go elsewhere in the budget.

"And I'm sure most Floridians like I do, believe that spending 250-thousand of education materials is more important than spending a quarter of a million dollars learning how to catch rainwater."

Other items tossed from the state budget include repair and construction money for colleges and universities, the Florida Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs, grants to the Small Business Development Centers, and Public Broadcasting.
