Scott's popularity hits a new low

Tallahassee, FL – A growing number of Floridians say they don't like the job Governor Rick Scott is doing. Since taking office in January, Scott's popularity has been on a slide. James Call reports a Quinnipiac poll found that 57-percent of respondents say they don't like the job Scott is doing. That's more than double the number from February.

Pollster Peter Brown said the numbers reveal that voters don't like the state budget Scott and the Legislature wrote this spring. And Brown noted, voters seemed not to have noticed that Scott kept a promise not to raise taxes.

"The voters who are aware of the cuts he has made to the budget are not particularly happy about it. And those who might be expected to support him because he was able to balance the budget without new taxes don't know it."

Scott and lawmakers closed a four billion dollar budget shortfall with spending cuts. Coincidentally, the Legislature's approval rating is as low as the governor's.
