Tallahassee, Fl – Florida House Speaker Dean Cannon says this year's Legislative Session is an opportunity for lawmakers to initiate transformational change. James Call reports, Cannon has created a Select Committee on Government Reorganization.

The select committee will examine the role of government entities that quote, promote or regulate private sector activity and government programs involved in health delivery systems.

In a memo released Thursday Cannon wrote one of the committee's goals will be to identify the specific and necessary work of government. Formation of the committee comes while Governor Rick Scott is preparing plans to merge state agencies and streamline rules and regulations.

Cannon has asked Speaker Pro Temp John Legg to serve as committee chairman and Representative Gary Aubuchon to be the vice chair. The speaker invited Representatives wanting to sit on the committee to notify his office by the close of business Monday.
