Tallahassee, FL – Florida's First Lady met with students at the Capitol today/Thursday as part of Celebrate Literacy Week. Gina Jordan reports.
Ann Scott began by quoting Dr. Suess.
"The more you read the more things you will know. The more that you learn
the more places you will go."
Scott was talking to contest winners from schools around the state who created public service announcements to encourage reading.
"One of my favorite pastimes is at the end of a long day, even though I'm tired, it so relaxing to me just to curl up in bed with a good book and read, and that's the way I like to end my day."
Also celebrating literacy, more than eighty law enforcement officers as well as employees from the departments of education and health are visiting classrooms this week to read to students.
