Tallahassee, FL – The first day of Florida's inaugural festivities featured a lunch honoring about-to-be First Lady Ann Scott. Margie Menzel reports.

Three hundred guests packed the Mary Brogan Museum of Art and Science for an emotional tribute. It included speeches from Ann and Rick Scott's two daughters, Allison and Jordan.

"My mom was an amazing mom but she was more than that for Jordan and me. She was also our confidant and our friend," said Allison Guimard. "[Crying] I'm just going to keep going. She will be the same thing for the people of Florida. She will be there to listen, understand and to care for Floridians just as she did for us."

The incoming governor joined the praise, and Ann Scott in turn thanked him for...

"...making me challenge myself every day, doing things I thought I could never do such as being up here speaking to you. Because it was true when he decided to run for governor I said I support you, I'm behind you 100 percent, but no speeches. That lasted, like, 30 days."

The Scotts have been married for 38 years. Ann, an avid reader, is partnering with the nonprofit Volunteer USA Foundation for an Inaugural Book Drive to distribute donated books to youth organizations and foster children in and around the capital city.
