This curator-led tour will take you through the Main House at Pebble Hill Plantation and draw detailed attention to the friends, family, and distinguished guests who left their enduring legacies in American History and beyond. Some of Pebble Hill's famous visitors included President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Georgia Governor Jimmy Carter, dignitaries, artists, writers, and celebrities of the day.

Enjoy seeing resources from the Pebble Hill archives that relate to these extraordinary people who inflluenced the courses of politics, medicine, natural history, and the arts.

The Main House has its own famous connections, as it was designed by Cleveland, Ohio architect and youngest son of President James Garfield, Abram Garfield.

This curator-led tour will introduce works of art and craft in Pebble Hill's permanent collection made exclusively by women. Enjoy learning about who these women were and the talents and skills they possessed. Come away with an appreciation of their respective disciplines and the significance of their place in women's history. Dora Wheeler Keith, Josephine Herrick, and Eleanor Beard are among the fascinating women to be included in this in-depth tour and exploration of women who left their mark on history.

Space is limited to ensure a great experience for our guests. Children must be age six years or older to tour the Main House and the Elisabeth Ireland Poe Gallery. There are two offerings for these tours: June 13th and June 27th.

On Saturday, May 4, you can experience this special Folk Art exhibition while enjoying some light refreshments and live music. Sip on mimosas, locally-brewed craft beer by DEEP Brewing Co., or delicious coffee from Argonaut Coffee and enjoy fresh-baked pastries from our friends at Uptown Cafe. Live music will be played by Elsinore Sewing Club.

During this exhibit, in collaboration with The John G. Riley Center & Museum, Lemoyne Arts is paying tribute to the enduring legacy of folk art as a universal form of expression. On display are renowned folk artists such as O.L. Samuels, Eddy Mumma, and Thornton Dial, Sr., alongside contemporary voices such as Mary Proctor.

Big Bend Cares’ fall event, the Tallahassee AIDS Walk, draws hundreds of participants each year. This year’s walk will be held on Thursday, September 18th at 6:30pm at the Southwood Nature Trail. We are celebrating the 35th Annual AIDS Walk this year, working alongside partner organizations Neighborhood Medical Center and Bond Community Health Center.

Individual community members, school and university groups, companies, and faith groups can register to walk as individuals or as part of a team now by clicking the ‘Register’ button above. Walkers are encouraged to also become fundraisers themselves and help us reach our goal. After a memorial walk around the Southwood Nature Trail (starting at the intersection of Ivy Green Trail and Grove Park Dr.), we will gather to listen to speakers and music.

This event will be a celebration of all of those who have fought so hard to fight the spread of HIV/AIDS. All proceeds help Big Bend Cares in providing direct-care services for our clients and HIV prevention and education for the entire Big Bend region.
