State of the Apalachicola
What factors are really impacting the loss of Apalachicola's world-famous oysters? A new research project called the Apalachicola Bay System Initiative is out to get the answers and use those results to guide future policy regarding the bay's iconic seafood. To talk about it are: Georgia Ackerman, executive director Apalachicola Riverkeeper; Sandra Brooke, FSU Coastal and Marine Lab faculty member; Jim Estes, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission fisheries researcher; Anita Grove, Apalachicola City Commissioner; Shannon Hartsfield, 4th generation Franklin County seafood worker; and Ricky Jones, chair, Franklin County Commission.

But Republicans in the Legislature are forging ahead; Lots of politicians have been grousing about social media censorship. But a new survey suggests a lot of average folks in Florida don’t like those restrictions very much either; Lawmakers are working to clarify how non-emergency medical transportation for people who get benefits from both Medicare and Medicaid should be paid for; We speak with a disability rights advocate about a bill that would ban what are called “disability abortions”; And even though catastrophe was narrowly averted when an abandoned phosphate mine’s holding pond threatened to inundate nearby neighborhoods, the basic problem still has Florida officials flummoxed.

First Responders Could Treat, Transport Injured Police Dogs Under Bill That Passed Unanimous Senate Vote
Injured police dogs would get priority medical help if they're injured on the job. That's under a bill approved by the Senate and awaiting a floor vote in the House. The measure would put the canine officers at the front of the line if no one else at the scene needs medical attention or transport.
