The Friends of the Franklin County Public Libraries (FFCPL) are pleased to announce another fun and creative event in their popular Program Series - Adult Crafternoon: Pothead Planters. This hands-on crafting workshop will take place on Thursday, August 21, at 2:30 PM at the Carrabelle Branch Library, located at 311 St. James Avenue (Hwy 98), Carrabelle, FL. The workshop is free with all materials supplied and open to all adults. No library card is required.

Adults will create and make Pothead Planters - Participants will design and assemble their own “Pothead Planters”—a charming and humorous craft project where planters are decorated to resemble playful faces and topped with plant “hair.”

Adult Crafternoons, held the 3rd Thursday each month at the Carrabelle Branch Library, are a great way to unwind, connect with others, and take home a handmade treasure. This session is designed to be an enjoyable and stress-free experience, perfect for both beginners and seasoned crafters.

Join us on Thursday, August 21st, for live music under the oak trees in Lewis Park (311 E Park Ave) from 7-9 PM! Pharaohs of Funk will play the night away, and Hayward House will be on-site with food and beverages available for purchase. Bring chairs, blankets, and your friends to enjoy the melodious sounds under the oaks. This free series will take place on the third Thursday of each month from June to September.

This engaging, hands-on workshop will be held at the Eastpoint Branch Library on Wednesday, August 13, at 4:00 PM. The Eastpoint Branch Library is located at 160 Hickory Dip Road, Eastpoint, FL 32328. This workshop is free and open to the public—no library card required—and provides a fun, inclusive space for children ages 7–12 to learn, explore, and create.

During the workshop, participants will build and decorate their own mini greenhouse, plant seeds, and discover how plants grow. In the process, they’ll gain insight into basic ecosystem concepts and plant life cycles—all while having fun and expressing their creativity.

Creation Station is a series designed to spark curiosity and support learning for children ages 7–12. Each Creation Station event features hands-on STEM challenges and creative tinkering, with activities such as building structures, working with simple circuits, and mixing technology with art.

During the workshop, participants will predict and race using different methods (salt, warm water, air) to melt ice and reveal hidden toys. In the process, they’ll have fun and express their creativity.

Join us Friday, December 13th for a fun community contra dance! This last dance of the year will feature Knoxville caller Deanna Palumbo and special lighting and pop music mixing by Asheville’s DJ TacoShel.

Tallahassee community contra dances continue in the Senior Center Ballroom on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of most months! Contra dancing is an upbeat, beginner-friendly American folk dance for all ages. It shares many moves with square dancing (such as swing your partner and do-si-do) and is danced in long lines to live music. The bands and callers vary each night. Come alone or bring friends–no partner or experience required! Those new to contra dancing are strongly encouraged to come by 7:15 when a Beginner Lesson will be taught, and as dances are taught in more detail early in the evening. Wear comfortable clothes and flat shoes.

Andrew Unsworth, Organist at the Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, will perform a Christmas organ concert at Trinity United Methodist Church on December 8 at 3:00 pm. This concert is part of the church's Bicentennial celebration and is free and open to the community.

Enjoy hot cider and cookies from the Friends of Maclay Gardens, tour the Maclay House, visit with Santa, peruse the Silent Auction, and listen to live music performances.

Come join us as Jennifer Schomburg Kanke award-winning poet/author of The Swellest Wife Anyone Ever Had! shares with us how to tap into our memories to create unique and memorable poems. Participants will learn a few simple stress-free writing techniques for turning their memories of family and friends into poems perfect for giving as presents during the holidays. This event is free and open to the public.
