  • Venvi Art Gallery is excited to announce "In The Round: The Circular Paintings of Jack Reilly". These mesmerizing works will be on display from August 1st to October 19th, with its opening on August 1st from 5-8pm.

"In The Round: The Circular Paintings of Jack Reilly" showcases 21 of Reilly's paintings done on shaped canvas, with 13 additional prints. This exhibition emphasizes the circle and its strong significance as a fundamental geometric shape and its role in astronomy, mathematics and physics. Circles can be found within religious traditions, signifying life's cyclical nature, along with sacred and spiritual concepts. In Jack Reilly's works, the investigation of the circle and its significance is expressed through an abstract lens. The mission of these paintings is to invoke these symbolic and formal references all while emphasizing the object itself and its beauty to anyone who views it.

Jack Reilly primarily works with acrylic on shaped canvas. He is incredibly well-known for his abstract paintings on circular shaped canvas. The canvas's shape creates a restrictive process, and becomes a visual metaphor of the conceptual elements it represents by transcending its restricted shape. Each circular painting has a border of concentric circles composed of over hundreds of closely condensed brush strokes. Reilly's work calls back to Abstract Expressionism, color field painting and other references. The brushwork of these rings is frequently compared to gothic stained glass and Byzantine mosaics.

Reilly's work can be found in numerous private, public, and corporate collections. These include the Oakland California Museum, Atlantic Richfield, American Airlines, and Verizon among others. Alongside his prolific art career, Reilly also is professor emeritus with California State University, and currently maintains his studios in California and Florida. His art career began in Los Angeles with a series of museums and exhibitions. These exhibitions led to his recognition as an original artist of the abstract illusionism movement. Reilly remains one of the most prominent artists working in shape canvas today. Reilly's works can also be found in periodicals such as the Art Week magazine, and the Los Angeles Times.

"In The Round: The Circular Paintings of Jack Reilly" will be on display at Venvi Art Gallery from August 1st to October 19th. Its opening will be on August 1st from 5-8pm. Venvi Art Gallery is located at 2901 E Park Ave Unit 2800 Tallahassee, FL 32301. To learn more about this exhibition, visit our website at www.venviartgallery.com
