To protect your identity and reduce fraud, the Tallahassee Police Department is inviting the public to a shredding day. Officials say shredding old documents will decrease financial crimes.

To prevent identity theft, TPD and Caraustar Recycling is holding a shredding event Saturday. Officials say identity theft and financial fraud happens when scofflaws find sensitive information in someone’s trash. Paper work, which may contain social security numbers and other information, should be shredded. The event will be held at 3201 Springhill Road.
