Tropical Storm Nestor washed out the original event date for the Eighth Annual Tallahassee Science Festival in October. The event was then reset for this Satuday, Nov. 23 and eager crowds were packing Kleman Plaza to take part.
Among the folks working the dozens of booths and exhibits was Florida Park Ranger George Royal. He told visitors new discoveries in natural science and archeology happen in the state parks almost every day.
"There's something to learn even for us who are out there all the time. We learn a lot!" he insisted.
FSU's Goldsby Lab won the People's Choice Award for Best Exhibit. And Anthony Jones, with the Festival's prime sponsor Tallahassee Community College, was delighted that the rescheduling hadn't hurt the turnout. Although he said he wasn't really surprised.
"The last couple of years we've done this, we've seen how enthralled the community is," he remarked, indicating the large number of people packing the plaza area. "We're very excited about doing it again for the third year in a row and it exceeded our expectations as always."
