Local Names, TCC Board Members Part Of Latest Round Of DeSantis' Rescinded Appointments

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has rescinded even more of Governor Rick Scott’s appointments. So far, more than 200 people have taken off of state boards and commissions by the new governor.

DeSantis has rescinded the appointments of another 169 people who were awaiting Senate confirmation. That’s led to confusion as to who is on or off those boards in the meantime. DeSantis says he plans on making new appointments shortly.

“I think different people say different things about it," DeSantis told reporters Tuesday.

"Some will say, when you’ve been put in but not confirmed by the Senate, if the governor pulls you back you’re still there until someone new gets appointed. Others, say you’re off. For us, we’re going to work quickly to put people on these positions so at the end of the day it’s not going to matter much either way.”

DeSantis says people can reapply for those positions. Among those who had their appointments taken back; Chucha Barber with the board of Volunteer Florida, former state Attorney Willie Meggs on the state ethics commission,  Eugene Lamb and Eric Grant on Tallahassee Community College’s Board of Trustees.

Upon taking office in January DeSantis rescinded 45 of Scott's last-minute appointments.

So far, he has removed more than 214 Scott appointees from boards and commissions around the state.

“Some of them I didn’t know. Some of them I do know. Some of them, I reckon, I will reappoint. But, I think it is important for us to be able to take a fresh look at all of this.
