Gov. Ron DeSantis wants to make it easier for Florida residents to obtain work by cutting licensing requirements for jobs in things like hospitality and cosmetology.
DeSantis points out what he considers inconsistencies. One example is snipers in the Marine Corps. They have to take up to 632 hours of training while licensed interior designers in Florida take 1,760 hours.
The governor is calling on lawmakers to reduce licensing requirements.
He also wants to implement “global licensing.” That will ensure occupational licenses would be valid in all Florida counties – allowing residents to move from county to county without requiring additional licensing of the same kind.
