North Florida’s lower-income residents can get free help with their taxes this spring. Eligible individuals and families making $54,000 a year or less can sign up for an appointment now.

Volunteers will be on hand at Lively Technical Center on Appleyard Drive and the Tallahassee Leon Federal Credit Union on Capital Circle NE to help residents file their taxes.

All the services are free, and each advisor is IRS certified, says Stephanie Strickland with the community support organization Impact America.

“Everyone who works at our tax site is certified by the IRS, either to the basic or advanced level. And they’re all…supervised by our AmeriCorps members. So they all have someone who’s received hundreds of hours of training looking over their work,” Strickland said.

Taxpayers should make sure they have the proper forms before coming to their appointments.

“Any tax documentation relevant to your return. For most people this would be a W-2 or a 1099 miscellaneous. Everybody needs to bring in their ID and social security card, and any other tax documents relative to their return,” Strickland said.

Interested residents can find more information at or by calling 1-844-4-TAX-FLA. Tax prep assistance will be available up until the April 17th filing deadline.
