The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is slated to get nearly 4 million dollars from the federal government to help cover costs of debris removal following Hurricane Michael.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency approved 1.9 million dollars for the state of Florida Tuesday. The money will help pay for gathering and getting rid of debris within several districts impacted by Hurricane Michael back in October.
The grant is funded by FEMA’s Public Assistance program and is an expedited project. That means Florida gets 1.9 million first. And will receive the remaining 50 percent once it provides all supporting documentation of its costs.
