Who’s going to serve as the local arts agency going forward? That’s one of the issues to be discussed at the upcoming Leon County Commission meeting this coming Tuesday.
Currently, the Council on Culture and Arts, or COCA, gets the majority of its funding from the County. But, the County’s five-year funding Agreement with COCA expired in September. Now, Commissioners will consider whether to end the partnership and contract with a new agency.
COCA gets nearly $1.4 millon dollars annually from the County through a mix of general revenue and the Tourism Development Tax. The rest of its funding comes from other sources like the City of Tallahassee, state grants and in-kind contributions.
The meeting is set for 3 p.m. at the Leon County Courthouse on Monroe Street downtown.
