Bay County Sheriff's Office Works Active Shooter Situation

An armed man opened fire on police in Panama City Tuesday afternoon, after barricading himself inside an apartment. Law enforcement reported one injury at the scene.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office is reporting its deputies worked the scene of an active shooter situation in Panama City. The agency says the suspect, 49-year-old Kevin Robert Holroyd, barricaded himself in an apartment. A SWAT team and bomb squad were called to the scene trying to extract him.

BCSO is also reporting Holroyd fired at deputies when they arrived. Officers returned fire. There was one injury during the gunfire exchange, an EMS worker who was grazed by a bullet.

The Walton County Sherriff’s Office confirmed Holroyd is wanted in connection to a homicide it is investigating out of Santa Rosa Beach. The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Clinton Street.
