Gov. Scott Sees Boost In Appoval Ratings But Floridians Still Down On LeBron

Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s job approval numbers are on the upswing, according to the latest poll from the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling Institute.

Thirty nine percent of Florida voters approve of the job he's doing, and that's up three percentage points from a similar poll a month earlier. Last year, Scott was polling in the 20's.

But the news isn't all positive for Scott. The PPP poll shows that more than half of all Democrats say think former Governor Charlie Crist, who became an independent after leaving the Republican Party during the 2010 Senate race, should run against Scott as a Democrat. And in a hypothetical matchup as a Democrat Crist would win against Scott 44-41 percent with 15 percent undecided. That's less than the poll's 3.3-percent margin of error.

Meanwhile, Floridians remain unimpressed by Miami Heat basketball star LeBron James despite the teams' Championship win.

"Floridians are moderately happy that the Miami Heat won the NBA title, but 53% don't care.  32% say they're happy about the outcome, and 9% unhappy.  These are better numbers than in June when we asked whether voters were rooting for the Heat or not.  Then, 36% said they were, and 28% said they weren't," said PPP's Dustin Ingalls, Assistant to the Director at the Public Policy Polling Institute.

"LeBron James' personal numbers have not moved at all since becoming a champion.  32% see him favorably and 19% unfavorably, exactly as in June."

The winner by far is Chick-Fil-A, which boasts a 54-20 percent approval margin despite being caught up in a controversy over its founder's opi on marriage rights for same-sex couples.
