What do the residents of Tallahassee's Southside actually want for their neighborhoods? Finding that out was the goal of a drive-through survey the City conducted at Nims Middle School on Saturday, May 1.
A slow, but fairly steady line of cars drove by the front of the school. Devan Levins with the City/County Planning Department said the idea was to show local residents what projects are underway and find out what else they'd like to see happen.
"If you look at the 44 neighborhoods, how do you get those neighborhoods on the same page? We know they have their own things they want to see. But how do we make the whole Southside work?"
Some city commissioners were on the same mission, such as Curtis Richardson and Dianne Williams-Cox.
"We want all of Tallahassee to grow. And we want all of Tallahassee to have the same type of access. So it's very important that we get community involvement and engagement so we can continue to move our city forward," she commented in between chatting with some of those who came.
The citizen input from this and future drive-through surveys will help commissioners and City staff as they revamp the comprehensive plan.
