Leon County residents who are behind in their rent and utility payments may qualify for help from county government. The funding is what's left of the original allocation of CARES money.
The county's Deputy Administrator Alan Rosenzweig said the program is intended for those with limited resources.
"And if they can provide some simple documentation, we'll be able to pay back up to 12 months of rent or 3 months going forward to keep them in a stable situation."
Rosenzweig added there will be multiple ways for people to apply for the aid.
"It'll be available online, but there will also be a call center, most importantly we'll be standing up opportunities for people to come in to our main library or Railroad Square offices and we'll have people available to provide direct assistance to help them get their applications in. And upon approval, we'll make payments directly to their landlords or utility to keep these folks in stable housing."
The program, with around $8 million available, kicks off March 29th.
