The new park will offer a variety of recreational amenities where a storm water retention pond is presently located.

A Saturday morning event at the Greater Love Church in Tallahassee's South City area combined pancakes and park plans. The proposed county park will occupy the present site of a stormwater holding pond at the corner of Orange Avenue and Meridian. Among those at the breakfast gathering neighborhood input was Jim Sullivan with the engineering firm Halff Associates.

"We're going through that phase and then we'll be moving into the design phase for the park, incorporating all of the preferences the community has given to us. And we hope that the park will be ready to go to construction by the end of this year."

The Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency is in charge of the project, whose senior manager is Julius Brown. He's eager to see what the neighborhood wants.
.
"The good thing about the input is it will provide direct inspiration for the design of that project, in particular the park, so we're very excited about it."

Public input will continue through a survey on the Blueprint website through March 22nd.
