Paramount wins the war for Warner Brothers: Exploring how they beat Netflix and the future of media

Late last year, Netflix was almost certain to be the buyer of the streaming and theatrical side of Warner Brothers Discovery. But as of last week, Paramount Skydance (owned by the Ellison Family) has submitted the superior bid (according to the Warner Brothers Board) and Netflix has dropped out of the bidding war. If the sale to Paramount passes the regulatory hurdles, they would become the owners of HBO, Warner Bros. studios, and CNN. This is in combination with Oracles control of the U.S. side of TikTok (also owned by the Ellison Family) But, how did Paramount secure the deal over Netflix? And what does this all mean for the future of media and journalism?
