The City Manager of Tallahassee is an unelected position that is appointed by the city commission. With the retirement of current manager, Reece Goad, a search was launched by an independent civil hiring firm to find his replacement. The decision to hire a new City Manager prior to the November elections this fall caused a lot of debate on the city commission, and with campaigns currently being run – a lot of controversial statements. The new manager was hired via a 3-2 vote and was given a contract with a 6-figure salary, stirring up a new series of debates. Gina Jordan sits down with Tristan Wood to discuss the situation.
