Week of May 6th

At 8PM on May 7th, pianist Steve Sternberg is performing boogie-woogie and blues piano at the Blue Tavern. Information can be found at bluetaverntallahassee.com.

FSU student DeSean Stokes is presenting his new opera, “The Saturday’s Sorrow,” May 8th at 7:30PM in Opperman Music Hall. It is open to the public.

The Tallahassee Friends of Old-Time Dance present, “Contra Dance,” May 10th at 7:15PM at the Tallahassee Senior Center. Information can be found at tallydancer.com.

The Southern Shakespeare Festival is this week, May 9th through 12th at the Adderley Amphitheater in Cascades Park. The Mainstage production, “The Winter’s Tale,” begins at 7:30PM each night and features celebrity guest actor Nathan Darrow. The junior troupe, the Bardlings will present an abridged version of “The Tempest,” at 5:30PM on May 11th and 12th. The festival will have food trucks, merchandise, and more. The Irish Repertory Theater presents, “Shush,” through May 12th at the Goodwood Museum and Gardens. Tickets and information are available   at tallahasseeirishrep.com.

The Tallahassee Ballet presents, “The Sleeping Beauty,” May 11th and 12th In Ruby Diamond Concert Hall. There is an abbreviated children’s performance on May 11th at 10:30AM and full performances with live orchestra on May 11th at 7:30PM and May 12th at 2:30PM. The Tallahassee Film Society presents “Slow,” May 10th through 12th at All Saints Cinema. Tickets and information are available at tallahasseefilms.com.
