He graduated from The School of Journalism at the Florida A&M University. He formerly worked for The Florida Channel, WTXL-TV, and before graduating interned with WFSU News. Today marks the start of Hurricane Season and the National Hurricane Center expects activity to be above average. They are predicting 13 to 20 named storms, with 3 to 5 of them reaching Category 3 or higher.

The Florida Supreme Court has found the state’s medical marijuana vertical integration system is constitutional. This comes after a years-long effort by Florigrown to open the state’s medical marijuana market to more businesses. The company was denied a treatment center license in 2017.

The Florida House Democratic Caucus has chosen Leon County Representative Ramon Alexander as its chair for the 2022 and 2024 legislative sessions. In the new role, Alexander will be charged with raising money and recruiting candidates. He says he plans to hit the ground running ahead of the next election cycle.

The Tallahassee Lenders Consortium broke ground Wednesday on the first of 35 homes the agency plans to build as part of its community land trust program. The program will build homes on vacant city property in residential areas. Future homeowners won’t own the land, ultimately saving them from buying it and making the cost of their home more affordable.

Former Jackson County Sheriff Zachary Wester has been found guilty of planting drugs on three motorists during traffic stops. Jurors dismissed charges stemming from the arrests of nine other victims.
