As the flu season quickly approaches, the Leon County Health Department is urging its residents to get vaccinated against the virus.
The Leon County Health Department is holding two flu immunization clinics, October 30th, and November 6th. The clinics are open to all Leon County residents, including children, and cost $22 dollars. Dr. Homer Rice, Administrator of the Leon County Health Department said the best prevention for the flu is the flu vaccine.
“People forget that flu is a very serious disease. We sometimes tend to think that it’s not such a big deal, but in reality over thirty thousand people a year, in the United States, die from flu and flu related complications” said Dr. Rice.
The clinics will be held at the Roberts & Stevens Clinic at 1515 Old Bainbridge Road in Tallahassee. Amounts are limited for children six months to 5 years old, so call ahead for availability, at 850-606-8020. Flu season typically starts in October and runs through March.
