Healthcare group says Florida small buisnesses missing out on healthcare tax credits

About 70 percent of small businesses in the U.S. are  eligible for healthcare tax credits under the federal Affordable Care Act.

That’s according to the healthcare consumer advocacy group, Families USA The group released a report Wednesday showing more than 300,000 thousand small businesses in Florida would qualify for the minimum credit- which is about a third of the cost of providing healthcare to employees.

“In Florida, those small businesses eligible for the tax credit, employ about 1.4 million workers. And the average tax credit available to those small businesses is $765 dollars per worker," said Families USA Director Ron Pollack.

The tax credits go as high as $1,000 per worker. Families USA released its report with the small business advocacy group, Small Business Majority.  The U.S. Supreme Court is currently weighing a challenge to the federal healthcare law and a ruling is expected in late June.
