GOP Starts Anti-Crist Ad Campaign Ahead Of DNC Speech

Ahead of ex-Governor Charlie Crist’s speaking engagement at the Democratic National Convention, the Republican Party of Florida says they want to remind voters about who the former Republican really is.  They’re running an ad statewide this week that showcases Crist’s conservative stances.

Republican Party of Florida is releasing an ad, featuring a montage of former Governor Charlie speaking as a Republican. State GOP leaders hope to show that Crist is using the Democratic National Convention to “shed his own political skin.” Here’s how it sounds:

Transcript of the Ad:

Announcer: “And, now the featured speaker at the Democratic National Convention, Charlie Crist!”

Crist: "I’m a Jeb Bush-Republican! President Bush, he is a leader of courage and conviction…I was impressed at Governor Palin being picked. I watched her speech today and I was very impressed….And, I’m a pro-life, pro-gun, anti-tax Republican."

Announcer: "How conservative are you Charlie?”

Crist: “I’m about as conservative as you can get?”

Crist left the Republican Party in 2010 and changed his voter registration to no party affiliation, after he dropped out of the Republican U-S Senate primary to run as an independent. The TV ad runs Tuesday through Friday on cable channels in Florida.
