Florida Voter Purge To Continue

WFSU-FM

For months Florida officials have been seeking approval to use the federal database to spot non-U.S. citizens on voter rolls. Spokesman Chris Cate says until now, the Florida Department of State has relied on a less than accurate list based on driver’s license information.

“We’re actually going to scratch that list, we’re going to do a new matching process with the driver’s license database but we’re going to add on top of that process these checks with the SAVE database to make sure the information that we have is very reliable and current and worth using to remove non- citizens from the voter rolls.”

State officials plan to re-screen some 2600 registered voters initially flagged as ineligible. More than 500 people were actually citizens.
